About the Cancer Center and the Annual Retreat

CHAMPIONING CANCER RESEARCH

The Upstate Cancer Center is committed to advancing cancer care, research, and education for the Central New York community and beyond. As a multidisciplinary enterprise, the Center brings together basic scientists, clinician‑researchers, educators, and collaborators across institutions to translate discovery into improved diagnostics, treatments, and prevention strategies.

Through collaborative translational research programs, pilot grant initiatives, shared core facilities, and community‑focused outreach, the Cancer Center fosters an environment where innovative science can thrive. These collective efforts support Upstate’s long‑term goal of strengthening cancer research infrastructure and progressing towards national and international recognition.

The Annual Cancer Center Retreat reflects this broader mission by providing a dedicated forum for scientific exchange, strategic planning, and the integration of diverse expertise. By welcoming researchers, trainees, and invited experts, the Retreat helps advance the Cancer Center’s vision of working together to improve cancer outcomes and promote cancer knowledge throughout the region.
