This immersive, full-day hands-on lab is designed for veterinarians seeking to enhance their diagnostic and therapeutic skills in canine musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK US). Led by ACVSMR diplomates and a radiologist with expertise in musculoskeletal imaging, the lab offers practical training in scanning techniques for key musculoskeletal structures.
Specific regions covered will include the shoulder, Achilles tendon, iliopsoas, and stifle. Attendees will also learn ultrasound-guided tendon injections. The course combines brief didactic overviews with extensive hands-on scanning using canine cadavers and live demonstrations, offering a high-yield learning experience tailored to veterinarians managing canine mobility and orthopedic conditions.
During this lab, wearable technology and fitness trackers currently used to assess fitness and monitor performance will be demonstrated. Case discussions will be used to present key variables that are useful to determine fitness to perform, monitor progression of training, detect subclinical or mild disease, and prevent injury.
